The art of film and video, as opposed to other media, relies on visual devices to tell stories. “The Hurt Locker,” is a good example of a film using imagery to tell its story. Often, though, films are more literal; that is, they rely more on narrative devices to drive the story, an example might be “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” which was adapted from a novel by Ken Kesey.

Here is a list of films we’ve watched, in no special order. In your view, do these films fit into one or another category, or are they blends of both literal and visual story telling techniques?
